Madame Walker Theatre Center Announces New Director of Rentals and Events

The historic Madame Walker Theatre Center announces the newly appointed Sherri Brown-Webster to The Walker as Director of Rentals and Events.

"We are so pleased to welcome Sherri to The Walker," says Dr. Terry Whitt Bailey, President & CEO. "She is already reorganizing the rental process and booking new and diverse events to attract diverse audiences into our building. The Indianapolis community will once again be able to say that there are great things happening on Indiana Avenue!"

Brown-Webster, an Indianapolis native, studied Communications and Spanish at IUPUI before embarking on a career in the performing arts. Brown-Webster traveled internationally performing in various shows including Menopause the Musical and Little Shop of Horrors. Brown-Webster brings over 23 years of experience in the performing arts and event planning to The Walker. "I'm not waiting for my ship to come in, I'm going to swim out to it." says Sherri Brown-Webster. "I'm excited to be a part of the rich heritage and legacy of the Madame Walker Theatre Center and I'm looking forward to the wonderful opportunities that wait ahead. God cracked a door and I pushed it open!"

Brown-Webster recently held a position in sales and marketing at Dow AgroSciences and has been a part of Indianapolis' downtown community for over 30 years. Brown-Webster is married to Gerald Webster and is guardian to one, step-mother of four and grandmother of three.

The Madame Walker Theatre Center is a nonprofit arts and cultural organization that offers educational, performing arts and humanities programs that better lives through positive cultural experiences. Founded in 1979, the Center operates with a mission dedicated to nurturing and celebrating the arts from an African-American perspective. Designated a National Historic Landmark, The Walker Theatre makes Indianapolis one of the few American cities able to claim such tangible evidence of its rich African-American cultural history.
