Chicago Street Theatre Offers A Unique Audience Experience With 'The Couch' Seating

The Chicago Street Theatre (CST) has developed a reputation for providing the best and most cutting-edge productions in Northwest Indiana. And now members of the audience have an innovative and incredibly comfortable way to enjoy those productions.

During the CST's first ever season preview event on June 27, the theater unveiled its brand new seating option - "The Couch."

Two couches have been situated in the front row of the CST auditorium, and can accommodate two adults, or one family of three, each.

"The purpose behind The Couches is to give patrons an option for special nights, or anytime they just want to sit in the most comfortable place in the house," CST Managing Director Donna Blanchard said.

Couch ticket-holders will receive special treatment in other ways as well, including concession bucks that can be exchanged for snacks before the show and during intermission.

Tickets for The Couches cost $50 per couple. Subscriptions for Couch Seats cost the regular price, ranging from $60 to $125 (depending on the package), plus an extra $50 per person for the entire year, making it a bargain for patrons with season tickets.

Four regular, removable front row seats remain on either side of The Couches for wheelchair access. If Couch Seats do not sell for a performance, a drawing will be held using the ticket stubs for that show and winners will enjoy the Couch experience at no additional charge.

Blanchard said The Couches offered a fun new way for patrons to enjoy what is already a unique theater experience at CST.

"Those couches are so comfortable," she said. "You definitely get your money's worth when you sit there."
