VELKOMIN HEIM Comes To Iceland This Upcoming February

VELKOMIN HEIM is coming to Iceland February 1st through February 15th, 2019.

Vala Rún was born in Thailand in the middle of the 20th century. She does not know when she's birthday, just she was born sometime during the monsoon season. She never met her father, lost her mother for six years and was more and more on her own after that. In 2019 her daughter plays a stage in the National Theater, the first woman of Asian origin, who graduates from the theater of the Icelandic Academy of the Arts.

In the live show Welcome home! Actress María Thelma Smáradóttir's story tells her mother about her life in Thailand and her experience when she first came to Iceland for 26 years.

Vals Rún felt she never lived in any place in Thailand. In Iceland, she felt like she had come home, yet she did not know anything here and did not speak the language. What is home living somewhere? What is a homeland?

In collaboration with the actor Trigger Warning. The project is funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture - drama board.
