Violinist Karen Gomyo to Join Houston Symphony for Mozart Concerto
Gomyo will display her technical and musical ability with a commanding performance of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 to begin the program. Since receiving a 2008 Avery Fisher Career Grant from Lincoln Center, she has become a highly in-demand soloist with orchestras worldwide and was described by the Chicago Tribune as a "first-rate artist of real musical command, vitality, brilliance and intensity."
Next on the program, Søndergård will conduct Bruckner's Symphony No. 7. Composed through an outpouring of the composer's deep faith, the work is infused with a deep spirituality and is one of Bruckner's best-known pieces of music.
The concert will take place at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, 615 Louisiana Street, in Houston's Theater District. For tickets and information, please call (713) 224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the Houston Symphony Patron Services Center in Jones Hall (Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). All programs and artists are subject to change.
