Theatre Under The Stars to Hold Local Auditions for SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HER WINTER KNIGHT
Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is holding dance auditions for the upcoming holiday production of SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HER WINTER KNIGHT, which TUTS is bringing to Houston with Lythgoe Family Panto (LFP).
Spencer Liff, the production's choreographer, along with the show's producers, Kris Lythgoe and Becky Lythgoe, who also serve as the writer and head of casting, respectively, will helm the Houston auditions. Garrett Clayton, who is reprising his original role of the Prince in this production of SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HER WINTER KNIGHT, will be on hand to evaluate the process.
Liff is best known for his Emmy-nominated choreography work on the television show "So You Think You Can Dance", and the history-making Deaf West production of SPRING AWAKENING. His other work includes "One Day at a Time" (Netflix), "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC), "How I Met Your Mother" (CBS) and numerous Broadway productions including the recent, acclaimed Lincoln Center revival of FALSETTOS.
As a member of the family behind hit TV shows "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance", Kris Lythgoe's passion lies in the theatre, and in introducing the next generation to the art form. His television credits include "So You Think You Can Dance" (FOX), "Who Are You" (FOX), "My Beautiful Game" (Fox Sports), "Opening Night" (Ovation), and "Soccer Superstar" (Nickelodeon).
His producing partner and co-founder of LFP, Becky Lythgoe, also serves as Casting Director and loves to bring stars from stage and screen together in their productions. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan Musical Theatre program and spent time at RADA in London. Her TV credits include as a performer "How I Met Your Mother," "House", "All of Us.", TV Hosting: "Stars in Danger" (Fox), "CD USA" (DirecTV) and as a producer "My Beautiful Game" (Fox Sports), "Opening Night" (Ovation), "G Word" (Discovery), and "Star! Weekly" (E!). Most recently she was seen on the stage starring as "Winifred" in the famed Los Angeles theatre series for UMPO: Hocus Pocus.
Clayton is perhaps best known for his breakout role in Disney's Teen Beach Movie, "The Fosters" on ABC Family, and the recent NBC broadcast of Hairspray Live! alongside TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre alumna Maddie Baillio.
Lythgoe Family Panto has produced American Panto in regional theaters across the country for the past 10 years, using these pop-culture-infused productions to introduce children to theatre, and to create a magical experience for the whole family.
Dance auditions in Houston will take place on Friday, August 25th from 12 to 4 p.m. at Theatre Under The Stars, located at 800 Bagby, Houston, Texas 77002 in the Center for Arts and Education. Lythgoe Family Panto is currently seeking male / female dancers, ages 18-35.
Additionally, on Monday, August 28th, auditions for specific Principal roles will be held by appointment only beginning from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

PRINCESS AURORA, FEMALE, 18-28, feisty and beautiful but innocent, good acting ability, strong singer and dancing ability. Musical theatre base an advantage.
PRINCE PHILIP (possible understudy), MALE, 18-35 Height 5'10 - 6'3'. Powerful singing voice and great actor, comedic ability, Musical Theatre experience.
KING OF HOUSTON, MALE, aged 50-65, experienced mature actor that loves to play a character part. Warm and friendly but must be obeyed. Comedy is essential.
GOOD FAIRY (possible understudy to cover both Good Fairy and Carabosse), FEMALE, 30-60 leader of the seven fairies, strong acting ability and powerful, show stopping singing voice. Helps SILLY BILLY become the hero.
CARABOSSE, FEMALE, 30-60 extremely evil fairy, who hates the Kingdom and Aurora. Gets boo'd by the audience throughout but must be able to control them. Interacts with the audience, strong actor and powerful singing is a must. Musical theatre experience an advantage.
