Mildred's Umbrella to Present BECKY'S NEW CAR
Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Company continues its 2015-2016 season with Steven Dietz's BECKY'S NEW CAR, directed by Ron Jones, and featuring Celeste Roberts as Becky.
Synopsis: Caught between middle age, middle management and a middling marriage, Becky Foster is trapped in a rut, until one night when a grieving millionaire happens into the car dealership where she works and offers her a chance at a wild ride into a new life. A devious and delightful romp down a road seldom taken.
Mildred's Umbrella is presenting this play because it provides ..a rare blend of humor, whimsy, poignancy, and realism through the point of view of a female protagonist as she discovers her purpose. In the words of Mark Twain, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." Becky's journey makes us think about our own 'why'.
Steven Dietz's "Becky's New Car" begins as an occasionally hilarious screwball comedy and gives way to a disarmingly thoughtful drama about the nature of love, fidelity and second chances.- Spokesman
