In ANCHORMAN, Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy, San Diego's top-rated TV newscaster in the male-dominated 1970s broadcasting world. But Ron's position is challenged when the network hires an ambitious female reporter (Christina Applegate) who has her eye on the anchor's chair. Soon, the rival newscasters are engaged in a battle of the sexes with hilarious results. See the official Anchorman trailer here or at the official ANCHORMAN website: anchormanmovie.com.

Kam Franklin has been singing publicly since age 5, and she is a three-time recipient of the Houston Press Music Award for Best Female Vocalist. She has performed with the Houston Symphony, and she has been featured in Buzzfeed, Refinery 29, Houstonia, and Nylon for her unique sense of style. Franklin is a very active participant in the Houston music scene. She has put on multiple events that have featured up-and-coming acts from around the Houston area, and she is always finding up new and creative ways to represent the city while performing with the Suffers around the world.

The Suffers have reached wide acclaim, appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Jimmy Kimmel Live, NPR's Tiny Desk, Newport Folk Fest, and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Following their 2015 performance of "Gwan" on The Late Show, David Letterman proclaimed: "If you can't do this, get out of the business."

The ANCHORMAN screening marks the final film of the series and this fall marks the 12th season of the Movies Houstonians Love film series, a unique program that invites Houston notables to present a favorite film in the Museum's Brown Auditorium Theater.

On the plus side, the MFAH Film Department offers moviegoers a unique venue for appreciating both classic and contemporary films year round. The department hosts over 200 screenings annually, including premieres of significant new independent productions. In conjunction with the film screenings, the Museum hosts appearances by filmmakers, critics, and scholars, whose perspectives add fresh insights.

Since screening its first films in 1939, the goals of MFAH Films include introducing audiences to the genius of film; responding to an evolving medium; stimulating discourse through the shared experience of watching films; and inspiring the next generation to value film and other moving-image arts.
