Lynn Redgrave died yesterday, May 3, at the age of 67. She appeared at the Alley Theatre in 1994 with her one woman show Shakespeare For My Father. Her death comes just a month after the death of her older brother, Corin Redgrave. She was the daughter of Sir Michael Redgrave and is survived by sister Vanessa Redgrave, a son Ben, and daughters Pema and Annabel.

"We're tremendously saddened by Lynn's passing. She did Shakespeare For My Father here, a turning point in her career as it began her work as a writer-performer, and began her exploration of her family and personal history through her writing. She visited the Alley many times and was a great fan of the Company," says Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd. "It is hard to imagine the grief of her family, with her passing coming so close to her brother Corin's last month. They were a very close family - filled with love and deep respect for each other and they believed in the power of the theatre and of the theatrical art to change people, and to transform lives. They changed mine."

ABOUT THE Alley Theatre

The Alley Theatre is a professional resident theatre company under the direction of Artistic Director Gregory Boyd and Managing Director Dean Gladden. It is one of the few American Theatre companies that supports a company of actors, designers, artisans and craftspeople throughout the year. Productions are built and rehearsed in a 75,000 square foot state-of-the art facility, one of the largest of its kind, adjacent to its two-theatre complex in downtown Houston.
