Led by Maestro Ken Lam, "Symphony in the Park" is an annual outdoor concert that takes place in Kailua.No tickets are required, but bringing blankets and lawn chairs is highly encouraged!

"The Power of People" is the theme of the 2017-2018 season at Honolulu Theatre for Youth.  Kicking off in August, the season will feature eight inspiring stories created for Hawaii families.  Artistic Director Eric Johnson says, "This season we will journey to ancient China, re-examine the modern ohana and explore underwater worlds.  What these stories of perseverance, ingenuity, empathy and understanding have in common is that each play celebrates our most precious resource, each other."

Kelin II, Director of Drama Education at Honolulu Theatre for Youth has been named the national winner of the Utah Valley University's Old Miner's Children's Playwriting Contest with his play DONNIE Q: KNIGHT OF THE THIRD GRADE. Daniel has been awarded a five-day rehearsal and development workshop at the Noorda Center for Children and Youth at UVU as well as a $1000 cash prize. "There is nothing more exciting or nerve-wracking then placing a new play in the hands of directors and actors. It's exciting to see the play come alive. It's nerve-wracking because you so hope it will sound like what you long imagined it could be. I know, however, that the play will be a better play because of this wonderful experience!" - Daniel A. The March lineup at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, kicks off with local soulful songwriter, Ron Artis II & The Truth, the Waikiki Edition of Revive the Live and Austin favorite Sharon Bourbonnais. Comedy is king when local funnyman Andy Bumatai graces the stage. Blue Note Hawaii welcomes back one of its favorite artists, jazz guitarist Earl Klugh, followed by groundbreaking Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi, joined on drums by the incomparable Simon Phillips (TOTO, The Who, Judas Priest) and the legendary Blood, Sweat & Tears. Manoa Valley Theatre parties on in its 2016-17 season, with the rock musical, "Rock of Ages," by Chris D'Arienzo from the 2015 Broadway season. It's the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary rock and roll venues. The fairy-tale madness is about to end, though, when developers unveil plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can a pack of rock and rollers save the strip-and themselves-before it's too late?  Music of headliner pop bands from the era holds the answer. This is a Hawaii premiere.
