November Shows Announced at Blue Note Hawaii

November at Blue Note Hawaii kicks off with one of the most influential saxophonists of our time - GRAMMY Award-winner David Sanborn. Next up is a member of jazz royalty Delfeayo Marsalis along with his quintet and rounding out the lineup of International Artists is jazz pianist Keiko Matsui. The stellar lineup of local artists is a who's who of Hawaiian music including Ka'imi Hanano'eau and the incomparable Jake Shimabukuro. Mid-month brings George Kahumoku Jr. & Bobby Ingano ft. Timmy Abrigo and Willie K. Audiences will be treated to one night only with Broadway songstress Loretta Ables Sayre. Thanksgiving week is a celebration with Anuhea & Friends, featuring special guest appearances by Lana Kei, Kimié Miner, Kamakakehau Fernandez, Mahi Crabbe and Paula Fuga. The month wraps up with performances by Hoku Zuttermeister, Ron Artis II and another not-to-be-missed series as Henry Kapono Presents: Back in the Day; The Songs of C&K featuring Gaylord Holomalia, Johnny Valentine, Blayne Asing, and Alx Kawakami.

A 15% kama'aina discount is available to residents for most shows. This is available online with code MAHALO15, as well as in person at the box office. Parking is validated at the OHANA East Hotel for $6 for four hours, and at the Outrigger Waikiki for $15 for four hours valet.

David Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six GRAMMY Awards, and has had eight gold albums and one platinum album. Having inspired countless other musicians, Sanborn has worked in many genres which typically blend instrumental pop, R&B and lately, more and more traditional jazz.

Ka'imi Hanano'eau

Date: November 6

Known primarily for his "island rock with an edge" style, Ka'imi Hanano`eau is a versatile talent with an ability to perform a wide range of music including jazz, Hawaiian, reggae, and contemporary. He has earned award nominations in the 2017 N? H?k? Hanohano awards for his work on three separate compilation albums, and a 2016 N? H?k? Hanohano award nomination for "Ukulele What?", a ukulele focused EP.

Delfeayo Marsalis Quintet

Dates: November 7-9

Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top trombonists, composers and producers in jazz today. Coming from a musical family Delfeayo has also toured internationally with multiple renowned bandleaders, incorporating each experience into his own jazz style.

Jake Shimabukuro

Jake Shimabukuro can still vividly remember the first time he held a ukulele. It was an encounter that would shape his destiny and give the world one of the most exceptional and innovative uke players in the history of the instrument-an artist who has drawn comparisons to musical titans such as Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis.

Master slack key guitarist George Kahumoku Jr., known as "Hawai'i's Renaissance Man", will be joined by Bobby Ingano, one of the most in-demand lap steel players in Hawaii.

Willie K

The Hawaiian phenomenon Willie K is undoubtedly the only artist in the world who can go into an Irish pub in the middle of Maui and play anything from indigenous acoustic Hawaiian music to jazz, reggae, rock, country and even opera-and leave everyone within earshot slack-jawed in astonishment.

Loretta Ables Sayre

Loretta Ables Sayre began singing professionally in 1979 as the first featured female vocalist with Keola and Kapono Beamer in the Ocean Showroom of the Reef Hotel in Waikiki. In addition to her work on Broadway, Loretta is well-known in Hawaii for her performances in theater, concerts, TV series, commercials and voiceover work.

Keiko Matsui

Dates: November 16-18

Best known for his work as Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm in Hawaii, Ron's recordings include genres of music from Rock, Blues, Jazz and completely to the other side of the world into classical, flamenco, then into the streets of rap, R&B and soul.
