Join us as we stand together and raise funds for our production of Newsies, running January 10-12 at the El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles! Theatre is expensive—whether it's related to set construction, costumes, venue rental, rights fees, crew costs, and much more—and Conundrum is committed to keeping our productions accessible and affordable for audiences. We aim to charge only 60% of the ticket price needed to break even, which is why we rely heavily on donations and fundraising to bridge the gap. For Newsies, Conundrum cast 40 local performers and pit singers, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents. Unfortunately, with such large productions, it's common for shows to lose money, even when tickets are sold out. After a record loss of $30,000 on our recent, but fully sold out, production of Guys & Dolls, we're in a critical position for our community production of Newsies. Conundrum Theatre Company is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company based in Burbank, California. Our mission is to build a collaborative, diverse community by generating opportunities for experienced performers with traditional day jobs and building skills for both youth and adults to empower them to create, produce, and perform in innovative, high-quality theatrical productions. We also believe in inclusive and nontraditional casting, cultivate and put on original plays and musicals from Southern California artists, and offer educational workshops and classes in the arts.
