Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of Too Marvelous For Words: A Salute to Johnny Mercer in the ArtStage Studio Theatre. "Accentuate the Positive" with a world-premiere cabaret evening celebrating one of America's favorite songwriters!

Playing January 22 to March 6th with four near-sold-out previews January 19-21, Too Marvelous for Words features an all-star cast of New York City musical theatre talent and over 40 of the most beloved songs of all time, including Moon River, That Old Black Magic, One For My Baby, Come Rain or Come Shine, and so many more!

Conceived and directed by Florida Rep Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, Too Marvelous for Words will take audiences on a musical journey through the American songbook as a company of six performers sing, dance, and even play instruments as they bring the music of Johnny Mercer to vivid life.

"Johnny Mercer is one of the greatest and most prolific songwriters in American history, and Florida Rep is pleased to salute his life's work in this exciting and electrifying cabaret evening," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo. Too Marvelous For Words features a dazzling line-up of multi-talented performers out of New York City., including Joe Bigelow (Florida Rep Debut), David Edwards (director, The Seafarer), Julie Kavanagh (Florida Rep Debut), James David Larson (Florida Rep Debut), Michael MacAssey (Fascinatin' Gershwin), and Soara-Joye Ross (Florida Rep Debut). Michael McAssey is the production's musical director and will play piano for the majority of the show. In addition to McAssey, performers Bigelow and Larson, play a number of instruments to accompany themselves and the rest of the cast in this musical event. Bigelow is featured on the piano, sax, flute, and clarinet, and Larson spends most of the show behind an upright bass as well as the guitar, banjo, and even the mandolin.

Florida Rep Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo (The Unexpected Guest, Fascinatin' Gershwin) directs the production, and is joined by an expert team of designers including choreographer Arthur D'Alessio (Fascinatin' Gershwin), set designer Tim Billman, lighting designer, Todd O. Wren (A Christmas Story), costume designer, Dina Perez (Around The World in 80 Days), sound designer, John Kiselica (The Cocktail Hour), and production stage manager, Amy L. Massari (I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti).

Too Marvelous For Words: A Salute to Johnny Mercer plays January 22 - March 6 in the ArtStage Studio Theatre with four near sold-out previews on January 19 at 8pm, January 20 at 8pm, and January 21 at 2pm and 8pm. Regular performances are Tuesday - Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Thursday, Sunday, and select Saturdays.
