Echoes across Two Cities is an original Chinese musical that weaves a century-spanning tale of connection, courage, and missed chances across Shanghai and Paris. The story follows two parallel journeys: in the 1930s, Shen Bai and French poet Éloïse form a profound bond through letters, only to be separated by family pressure and war, while a century later their story is unearthed by Shen Qingyuan and Parisian curator Lara. The production features two leading actresses each performing dual roles spanning two eras, with cast members drawn from the world tour of The Phantom of the Opera and the London musical theatre scene. The musical blends modern, Latin, waltz, and classical Chinese dance with original songs in Chinese, English, and French, fusing Republican-era Chinese aesthetics, French poetic romance, and rock influences.
