Sandra Gay Celebrated In Special Tribute Event at PhoenixTheatre

Veteran Artist Sandra Gay will be honored in a special tribute event at The Phoenix Theatre this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Still Loud. Still Here. celebrates the artistry, impact and enduring legacy of the Actors Ink founder through music, storytelling and special guest appearances.

Still Loud. Still Here. is a special tribute honoring legendary Indianapolis performer, poet, educator and community leader Sandra Gay. The event will take place June 19-21 at The Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre.

The production celebrates Gay's more than five decades of contributions to Indianapolis arts and culture through an evening of music, storytelling, poetry and reflection featuring some of the city's most respected performers.

Directed by Bill C. Myers, the production features special appearances by acclaimed vocalist Brenda Williams, trumpeter Clifford Ratliff and a live band including Bill Myers and the Trash Collectors, Darnell Lark, Rick Hart, Larry Sledge and Robert Coleman.

“Few individuals have had a greater impact on Indianapolis theater than Sandra Gay,” Myers said. “She has spent her life creating opportunities for others to perform, connect and grow. This production is our opportunity to celebrate her remarkable legacy and the countless lives she has touched through her work.”

The production also serves as a fundraiser for People of a Certain Age (POCA), an innovative program serving artists age 55 and older through acting classes, improvisation, movement, scene study and performance opportunities. Through the trademarked POCA Method, the program encourages lifelong creativity, connection and personal growth.

Performances will take place June 19, 20 and 21 at The Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre, 705 N.
