Breakdown

Seeking an ethnically diverse cast for the following roles:

SUSY
Late 20s-30s. Recently blind, she is doing her best to survive in a newly dark world. She’s also doing her best to keep a marriage together that may not have the strongest foundation. Endearing but never helpless, she’s an independent spirit whose cleverness is her best weapon in a frightening situation.

ROAT
30s-50s. An unknowable criminal from the underbelly of New York. A sadistic and a controlling sociopath capable of dominating the stage with a cool, unforced sense of danger. Roat is at times charming, at other times frightening.

LT MIKE TALMAN
30s-40s. A war friend of Susy’s husband. The kind of man who inspires trust without trying to; dependable and decent. A master con man, he’s the third member of Roat’s gang having a crisis of conscience. He likes Susy and isn’t sure he can follow through with the plan.

CARLINO
40s-50s. Henchman for Roat. Slightly paranoid and a little brusque, he’s a survivor and good at his job which is convincing people he’s someone else entirely.

SAM
30s. Susy’s husband. A war veteran who met Susy while recovering from post-traumatic stress. A busy, on the move photographer. He may see less of what’s happening in front of him than Susy.
