We cast for Repertory, and therefore, all performers will be in more than one show.

Due to our repertory casting model, SHE LOVES ME will share a large number of its cast with SOMETHING ROTTEN!, and therefore we are seeking performers who can work across both styles of musical.
GEORG NOWAK (male-identifying, age 20s-40s). A hopeless romantic, Georg knows how to gain success through his hard work, intelligence and loyalty, and finds himself befuddled at how little those skills are helping him in his love life. Vocal range: B2-F4.
AMALIA BALASH (female-identifying, age 20s-40s). Determined and eager, Amalia is another hopeless romantic unsure how to use her sales skills in her romantic life. She uses her intelligence in all her interactions, proving herself a skilled salesperson as well as a worthwhile foil for Georg. Vocal range: C4-B5.
MR. MARACZEK (male-identifying, age 60s). Owner of his own Parfumerie, Mr. Maraczek is a paternal figure to those who work for him. He values loyalty, a trait he shows in his dedication and devotion to his wife. He suffers no fools, however, and can have a temper when pushed. Vocal range: B2-C4.
LADISLAV SIPOS (male-identifying, age 40s-50s). Another employee in the shop, Sipos’ sales skills revolve around his eagerness to please. He is conflict averse, though he is a fierce and devoted friend to Georg, with a willingness to share the lessons he’s learned through his career and marriage. Vocal range: A2-E4.
ILONA RITTER (female-identifying, age 20s-40s). Also an employee in the shop, Illona falls in love with love, hopping from relationship to relationship. She’s eager to find a new way of doing things and find the love she sees Amalia dreaming of. Vocal range: F#3-E5.
STEVEN KODALY (male-identifying, age late 20s-30s). A skilled salesperson of perfume, as well as of himself. He is able to identify what the other person wants and sell them what he has to offer. He is playful, ambitious, and prides himself on enjoying life while he can. Vocal range: B2-A4.
ARPAD LASZLO (male-identifying, age early 20s). The delivery boy at Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Arpad’s exuberance is infectious and commitment to his job remarkable. He is ambitious and adorable, and observes everything going on around him, even if he doesn’t yet know when to keep his mouth shut. Vocal range: Bb2-E4.
ENSEMBLE: 6 female-identifying & 5 male-identifying. A combination of ages and types; roles require a mix of strong singing, dance ability, physical comedy, strong acting. Ensemble Vocal ranges: Sopranos (A#3-F#5), Altos (A#3-F5), Tenor (A#2-G4), Baritone (A#2-F4).
Featured Ensemble roles include:
HEADWAITER – A consummate professional, he tries with all his might to maintain the dignity of the restaurant where he works. But even he has a breaking point. Requires a comic sensibility, despite the fact that the character has none. Vocal range: (C#3-B4)
BUSBOY - Though he tries his best to maintain the integrity his boss demands, his nickname of “butterfingers” is well earned. Physical comedy skills important.

THE REVEREND LIONEL TOOP (male-identifying, age 30s-40s). Sincere and overwhelmed. He truly loves his wife and his vocation. Generally, one step behind the plot. Runs a lot.
PENELOPE TOOP (female-identifying, age 20s-30s) Married to Lionel. Former actor who is struggling with the role of “Vicar’s Wife”. Loves Lionel but misses adventure. Bubbly and fun, if sometimes a bit snarky. Able to sing loudly and off-key. American.
CORPORAL CLIVE WINTON (male-identifying, age 20s) Charming and funny, former USO actor, and is dedicated to the US Army. An old “friend” of Penelope’s. Runs a lot. American.
THE INTRUDER (male-identifying, age 20s-50s). Menacing. Sick and tired of the British. Russian. Runs a lot.
THE BISHOP OF LAX (male-identifying, age 50s-60s) Serious but easily confused, and a bit judgmental. Penelope’s uncle. Runs a little.
THE REVEREND ARTHUR HUMPHREY (male-identifying, age 30s-40s). Good-natured and kind. A little slow on the uptake. Just happy to be here.
SARGEANT TOWERS (male-identifying, any age). Loud and in charge. Flustered.

NIGEL BOTTOM (male-identifying, age 30-40). Nick’s sweet younger brother. A struggling writer who falls in love with Portia, a Puritan. Vocal range: Eb3-A4.
BEA (female-identifying, age 30-40). Nick’s wife. She loves him despite his past lack of success. She dresses up like a man to prove she can be an actor. A strong leader and a powerful woman. Vocal range: D3 to D5.
PORTIA (female-identifying, age 20-35). A Puritan woman who loves poetry, theater, and ultimately Nigel. Vocal range: G3-F#5.

Five of the actors double with a “pundit”, each of whom have one monologue.
ANA SMITH (female-identifying, age 30s). Pronounced Ah-nuh. Beautiful, charming, accomplished, organized, and smart. She’s a columnist for a daily paper. The “Mother Bee”. Her grace masks a need to control.
ROBERT NOVUM SMITH JR/SAM (male-identifying, age 30s). Ana’s golden-boy husband. They met in college. Handsome, charismatic, underachieving. He’s starting to search for meaning. Upper-crust background. Doubles as SAM – a Walmart stock manager, Amarillo, TX.
WILLIAM LEE NOTHNAGEL/FRANK (male-identifying, age 30s). Rob’s conservative, well-read, well-dressed, disciplined college roommate. Ana’s former boyfriend. History buff. Unmarried. Doubles as FRANK – a Secret Service agent, Washington, DC.
JENNIFER McCLINTOCK/ELSA (female-identifying, age 30s). Ana’s friend. She’s pretty, shy, smart, and tends to burst out with awkward truthful comments. Despite some lack of self-confidence, she is the grounding center of the group. Unorganized and oblivious to her own attractiveness. Unmarried. Doubles as ELSA – a jaded literary agent, New York, NY.
LILY LOUISE JACKSON/MRS. SIMPSON (female-identifying, Black, age 20s). A go-getter. Former debate captain who is on the cusp of all current trends and yet can still put her foot in her mouth in social occasions. Laughs at appropriate and inappropriate times. A great lover of books and Ana’s protégé at the paper. Doubles as MRS. SIMPSON – Retired librarian and novice sky diver, High Point, NC.
ALEX/CARL (male-identifying, age 30s). The new guy. Very smart, well-read academic who has lost his moorings and is searching for real connection. Professor of comparative literature. Doubles as CARL – Book Dealer, Bay State Correctional Center, Farmington, MA.

All roles require actors with excellent language skills, physical strength, and the ability to transform into multiple characters through physicality and dialects. All five characters are bright, witty, clever, sophisticated, well-to-do, articulate, attractive, polished, and sexually liberated.
PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY (male-identifying, age 20s-30s). Doubles as Victor Frankenstein, Felix. Incredibly smart, and well-read on a range of subjects with radical ideas about religion and politics. Idealistic and judgmental – a sceptic. VICTOR is smart and curious, but drawn to dark thoughts. He is obsessive and visionary, and not good at compromise.
MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT GODWIN (female-identifying, age 20s-30s). Doubles as Elizabeth Lavenza. Has already lived a lot and done a lot for her age. Smart, strong, and outgoing but with a great deal of sadness underneath.
CLAIRE CLAIRMONT (female-identifying, early 20s). Doubles as Portuguese Sailor, Mother, Villager, Sofia, Angel of Death, William, Woman in Black, Wedding Officiant. Mary’s younger sister. Illegitimate stepsister to Mary. She’s a wannabe writer and the former lover of both Shelley and Byron. Volatile, lively, and emotionally intense. At the time of the play, she’s pregnant with Byron’s child.
LORD BYRON (male-identifying, age 20s-30s). Doubles as Scottish Sailor, Professor Waldman, Creature. An outsized personality. Handsome and dashing and lives by his own rules. He’s brilliant but conceited and can be condescending. He’s also passionate and rebellious. CREATURE is thoughtful and troubled. He yearns for love and friendship. He’s emotional and is easily hurt or enraged. A deep soul.
DR. JOHN POLIDORI (male-identifying, age 20s-30s). Doubles as Walton, Henry Clerval, DeLacey. A close friend of Mary and Percy. He’s quick with a joke, and has unspoken feelings for Mary.
