SALEM: Blood To Drink

In this modern dark comedy about the ever-present why behind America's most famous witch hunt, Elizabeth Proctor finds herself on the wrong side of witchcraft accusations alongside Sarah Good, Bridget Bishop, and Ann Foster in Salem, 1692. They reckon with their faith, fears, and just how much society has suddenly forced them to have in common. Nothing brings people together like a common enemy, but when their enemy is placed directly in the middle of their cell, the rules of society that say women are subservient are quickly abandoned.

ROLES
Elizabeth Proctor (30’s-40’s - female or non-binary): A woman who loves her God and her husband. Righteous, devoted, walks the straightened arrow. Terrified of making a mistake. Carries more guilt than sin.
Sarah Goode (20’s – 30’s – female or non-binary): A woman who inherited her late husband’s debts but not her father’s wealth. Society has handed her every short stick in the bundle. She’s noticed.
Bridget Bishop (40’s-60’s – female or non-binary): A woman whose reputation precedes her as men in her life wish she’d committed more sins than she did. She is used to being discussed just because she wore that ONE RED PETTICOAT that ONE TIME… Been accused of being a witch before… it’s a vibe she’s got.
Ann Foster (60’s-80’s – female or non-binary): A woman who was broken long ago. A woman who wants to rest. A woman who deserves to be left alone. A woman who doesn’t say nearly as much as she feels.
George Burroughs (40’s – 50’s – white, male): A minister. Physically strong, emotionally…not so much. Opinionated. Confident. Obstinate. Wants to do good, but way too slow in his growth and who’s got time for that? No one in that prison cell.

Four impetuous young lovers flee into the magical moonlit night through the dunes and on the sand in true “beach blanket” fashion. Not to be outdone, the fairy Puck plays tricks to amuse the other denizens of the misty coastline and makes sure that everything turns out right in the end. Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy sparkles with vivacious imagination in this fresh adaptation.

Siblings Q and Z reflect on their childhood, their family’s immigration journey, and the complex realities of growing up between two cultures. Through fragmented memories, the play explores how identity, sacrifice, and personal choices shape their diverging paths and strain the siblings' relationship over time. Ultimately, it is an in-depth examination of family, belonging, and the emotional cost of becoming who we are.

NOTE: Performers of the diaspora of the global south are encouraged to audition.

Q – Global South Diaspora, In the winter of her life. Was born in ‘The Old Country’ in the “Global South,” immigrated with her parents to ‘This Country’ in the “Global North” six years later.
Z – Global South Diaspora, Younger sibling of Q by seven years. First in the family to be born in ‘This Country’

Unsettled by her job as a content screener for a big tech company, Jane seeks therapy to cope with the horrors she witnesses. The line between her work and her reality distorts in this taut and timely thriller.

JANE – female, twenty-five to thirty, white, young professional living in the Bay Area, knows how to dress to fit in, “self-aware” to a fault, wouldn’t be out of place at SoulCycle.
LOYD – male, sixties or older, white, lived in the East Bay his whole life, rocks a hippie-adjacent sort of look, has a high opinion of himself, wouldn’t be out of place at a Grateful Dead show.
