BREAKDOWN

TouchTones tells the story of two young adults, Justin and Christine, who have vowed to remain celibate until they are married. With their wedding day (and night) soon approaching, Christine stumbles onto an unfamiliar number, frequently dialed, on Justin’s phone, and calls to find out that it is a phone sex line for a company called TouchTones. As one world collapses and another opens up, Christine begins a journey of exploration and discovery that challenges her assumptions about sex, relationships and herself. Set in 1999, on the cusp of a new millennium and just before the internet explosion to come, this provocative musical explores the way we use technology in the quest for – and escape from – intimacy.
