SYNOPSIS: Follow the citizens of Bikini Bottom as they face the impending threat of a volcanic eruption from Mount Humongous. While the town descends into chaos, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy team up to create an invention and climb the volcano to stop the eruption. Meanwhile, the villainous Plankton attempts to capitalize on the crisis to achieve his own goals. The musical is a story of optimism, unity, and friendship, with its heroes ultimately saving the day through cooperation and perseverance.
SpongeBob SquarePants: (Range: C3-B4, Age: 18-35, Any Race and Gender) An optimistic, energetic, and deeply earnest sea sponge who is determined to save Bikini Bottom from the volcano. (Open to all genders.)
Patrick Star: (Range: Bb2-Bb4, Age: 18-35, Any Race, Male Identifying) SpongeBob's best friend. Kind-hearted and well-intentioned, but sometimes clueless and briefly corrupted by a cult of sardines who worship them as their Super Sea Star Savior.”
Sandy Cheeks: (Range: A3-E5, Age: 18-35, Any Race, Female Identifying) A brainy squirrel from Texas who came to Bikini Bottom for scientific research. Uses her vast knowledge and creativity to develop the invention used to stop the volcano.
Squidward Q. Tentacles: (Range: A2-F#4, Age: 35-55, Any Race and Gender) SpongeBob's grumpy, cynical neighbor who dreams of performing his own musical number in the town's benefit concert. Tap dancing skills a plus for this role.
Eugene H. Krabs: (Range: B2-Bb4, Age: 45-65, Any Race, Male Identifying) SpongeBob's greedy boss who views the impending disaster as a chance to cash in and hold an Apocalypse Sale at the Krusty Krab.
Sheldon J. Plankton: (Range: B2-G#4, Age: 25-45, Any Race, Male Identifying) The megalomaniac villain who sees the town's panic as an opportunity to hypnotize them into liking his food. Sleek, scheming, and opportunistic, with a soft spot for his wife Karen.
Karen the Computer: (Range: G#3-F#5, Age: 25-45, Any Race, Female Identifying) Plankton’s sardonic, glamorous robotic wife who’s been with him through all his schemes and is understandably jaded.
Pearl Krabs: (Range: Bb3-F#5, Age: 18-30, Any Race, Female Identifying) Mr. Krabs' teenage whale daughter who worries about her father's greed. Obsessed with the rock band “The Electric Skates.”
The Mayor of Bikini Bottom: (Range: F#4-B5, Age: 25-50, Female Identifying) When faced with Bikini Bottom’s imminent demise, responds with big inspirational speeches and little action; generally, more concerned with re-election.
Patchy the Pirate: (Range: D3-F4, F5 falsetto, Age: 25-50, Any Race, Male Identifying) Misunderstood pirate from the painting. The show's narrator who attempts to crash the musical; charming and engaging with audience.
Perch Perkins: (Range: E2-E4, Age: 25-45, Any Race and Gender) Typical news reporter.
Electric Skates: (Any Race and Gender) Rock and roll band members, the Skates are hard-core rockers. Very comfortable on skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, or other wheely devices (ability to do tricks a plus). Solid rock vocals and harmonizing required.
Ensemble: Ensemble of all types to portray a variety of characters. These tracks include Sardines, Plankton’s backup hip-hop dancers, tap dancing sea anemones, pirates, citizens of Bikini Bottom, etc. Some tracks include named supporting roles. All tracks in ensemble require excellent physical acting, singing, and dancing to bring the world of Bikini Bottom to life.
