female, 40s: Chinese-American wife and mother. Must be able to learn 8 to 10 bars of a basic Mozart Sonata. Experiencing a midlife identity crisis.

JULIA
female, 60s—70s: Chinese-American grandmother. Speaks Mandarin and semi-limited English. No-nonsense matriarch who values composure above all else. A survivor.

SHINE-SHINE
female, 16: Half-Chinese, half-Caucasian pianist preparing to audition for conservatories. Must be able to demonstrate believable piano skills. Rebellious teenager.

GEORGE
male, early 50s: Jewish, Caucasian. A family man, married 20+ years. Worked at the same job for far too long. Burnt out.

LUCAS
male, early 30s: All ethnicities. A piano teacher. An intense, serious, somewhat mysterious man. Cares deeply about his craft and students.
