HOLLENBACH
45-60s, weathered owner of Hollenbach's Circus & Menagerie. A drunk and a gambler. Will also play other small featured roles (Doctor/ Freightman, etc)

WALLACE PORTER
35-45, strong willed owner of Porter Livery Stables and later, the Great Porter Circus & Menagerie. Baritone with strong comfortable upper register

IRENE PORTER
25, wife of Wallace Porter, daughter of a rich New York banker. The least edgy sound of any character; low G to high D (legit/mix to E)

ELIZABETH COOPER
Age 40-50, devout Christian widow and mother to Grace.

JENNIE DIXIANNA
30s-40s, exotic circus performer acrobat, swings one-handed on a rope high above center ring. Has the ability to see the past and the future. New Orleans sound up to full E

ELEPHANT JACK
40s a rugged Animal handler, Jennie’s jealous lover. Bari-tenor/tenor up to an A

PEARLY
25-35, African American, Former slave from South Carolina. Falls in love with a white Union soldier.

OLLIE HOFSTADTER
21. A young clown and painter.

Note: the score is similar in style to Robberbride Groom, Spring Awakening, Violet or Dave Matthews, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, etc. Please submit actors who have a contemporary, folk, rock singing style.
