SEEKING

Equity actors for 2 available roles. 3 other roles have already been CAST; actors may be considered for possible replacements if needed.

PREPARATION

Please come prepared with a headshot and resume, stapled together. Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Visually impaired performers may request an advance copy of sides when making an audition appointment.

BREAKDOWN

Jim and Laurel Parker are about to become new parents. They are broke. They are loud. They are “proud white trash.” When Laurel gives birth to their long overdue child, she and Jim are faced with the biggest challenge of their lives. Byhalia, Mississippi explores a devoted couple in the midst of turmoil and a town with a racially-charged past that finds its way into the present.

Seeking:

JIM: Male, white, 25-35, father-to-be, Byhalia born and raised.

AYESHA: Female, black, 25-35, wife of Byhalia High School principal.

The following roles have been CAST.

LAUREL: Female, white, 25-35, Jim’s wife, Byhalia High School teacher. NOTE: This role has been cast. Those auditioning will be considered for possible understudy.

KARL: Male, black, 25-35, Jim’s best friend since childhood. NOTE: This role has been cast. Those auditioning will be considered for possible understudy.

CELESTE: Female, white, 50-60, Laurel’s mother. NOTE: This role has been cast. Those auditioning will be considered for possible understudy.
