DM Playhouse to Continue 'Today Funday' Series with HANSEL AND GRETEL

Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse on Dec. 9 for "Hansel and Gretel." This story is part of the 2016-17 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at The Playhouse, Friday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, and 1:30 PM. S

hows are approximately 45 minutes in length. The performance at 10:45 AM will have audio description, provided by IRIS. Admission is $6 per person, adults and children. December's featured story is "Hansel and Gretel." Hansel and Gretel are lost in the woods, looking for a Christmas tree to decorate their tiny house, when they come upon a delicious candy cottage. They just want to taste a little bit and go home, but Ginger the silly witch has other ideas.

Friday Funday performances are held monthly, September-May. The rest of this season features a variety of stories, including "Puss in Boots," Jan. 13; "The Mitten," Feb. 10; "The Ugly Duckling," Mar. 3; "Stone Soup," Apr. 7; and "Cinderella," May 12.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
