A funny and sometimes bittersweet look at the ups and downs of childhood as seen through the eyes of very different kids, and the moms and dads who love them.

Stories on Stage presents "Because I Said So..." Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. at The Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut St. in Boulder, Co 80302. On Sunday, October 20 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. the performance moves to Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center, 721 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204. Single tickets are $28 Adult/ $15 Student; tickets for groups of 10 or more are $23 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available.

Candy Brown, a longtime actor with Denver Center Theatre Company, was performing on Broadway in Pippin in 1974 when Michael Bennett convened 18 dancers at midnight in a New York gym. What happened that night - and into the next morning - became one of the longest-running, most beloved musicals ever - A Chorus Line." Lisa Bornstein, RMN. Ms. Brown performed with Gwen Verdon in Chicago and Cab Caloway in Hello Dolly. She was seen in the 2001 blockbuster film Ali and has appeared in Six Feet Under, CSI: Miami, NYPD Blue and Chicago Hope.

A writer, actor and singer, GerRee Hinshaw was last seen by Stories on Stage audiences in Making Merry. She has appeared with Buntport Theater, Curious Theatre, The Bug Theatre Company, Denver Children's Theater and The LIDA Project. Her work has earned both readers' and critics' awards in The Denver Post, The Rocky Mountain News and The Westword. GerRee is the host of Freak Train, a zany, open-stage show, now in its fourteenth year.

Chip Persons New York stage appearances include Švejk, Andorra, title role in Richard III, Godard: Distant & Right, The Song of Seven Cities, Foodstable, Hamlet,and Cold. In Colorado he performed the title role in Richard III at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and earned a Denver Post Ovation Award Nomination for Best Actor for that role. Film & Television credits include Law & Order, Psych (Discovery Channel) and Return to Paradise Lost.

Mare Trevathan has performed with Denver Center Theatre Company in The Sweetest Swing in Baseball, Garbo in my Eyes and Slabtown. She is a narrator at Talking Books and organizes literary arts/live music mash-up events with the Colorado Chamber Players. Mare is co-creator of "BALLS! A Holiday Spectacular": a rollicking annual variety show (with sock puppets!) that raises funds for Denver non-profits. In addition to her award-winning performances on stage she has directed productions of Driving Miss Daisy and Hairspray.

Celebrating their 13th Season, Stories on Stage has renowned actors bring stories to life by combining literature with theater.
