PACE Center Presents ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE, 4/12-20
Denver's award-winning theater critic John Moore is returning to directing with Always... Patsy Cline at the PACE Center April 12-20. Megan Van de Hey, multiple Denver Post Ovation award-winner and recipient of the past two Henry Awards for best actress in a musical, portrays beloved country singer Patsy Cline. Popular Denver actress Carla Kaiser Kotrc returns to her signature role as Patsy's devoted fan Louise Seger.
Always...Patsy Cline is produced by Starkey Theatrix, who produced Little Shop of Horrors at the PACE Center last October. Set design is by Shaun Albrechtson, the PACE Center's technical director, who also designed the engaging set for Little Shop of Horrors. The production features live music by an award-winning, on-stage band directed by Jalyn Webb.
The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houston's Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of Cline's death in a plane crash. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous. The show features 27 of Patsy's chart-topping songs, including such classics as "Crazy," "Walkin' After Midnight," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams" and "Back In Baby's Arms." It also features such country classics as "Your Cheatin' Heart," "San Antonio Rose" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky," pop classics like "Bill Bailey," "You Belong To Me," "True Love" and rock 'n' roll classics like "Shake, Rattle and Roll" and "Stupid Cupid."
Always... Patsy Cline is in the Mainstage Theater at the PACE Center for seven shows, April 12 to 20. Tickets start at $18 at PACEcenteronline.org, 303.805.6800 or at the PACE Center Box Office located at 20000 Pikes Peak Ave., in downtown Parker. Group discounts are available.
