LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE Returns to Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Tonight

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (FAC) brings the sold-out and twice extended production from 2014, LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE back to the stage tonight, November 12, through November 22.

Proving that a great show is always in fashion, LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE is a play written by Nora and Delia Ephron based on the 1995 book of the same name by Ilene Beckerman. With its intimate collection of monologues, the show uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and poignant stories that all women can relate to.

The production features Rachel Baker, Amy Brooks, Joye Cook-Levy, Birgitta De Pree, Marisa Dannielle Hebert, and is directed by Eve Tilley. The actresses sit side-by-side telling stories about unfortunate prom dresses, the traumatic lighting in fitting rooms, high heels, short skirts and the existential state of having nothing to wear. Accessorizing these tales - which are mostly comic but often sad or sentimental too -- are the mothers who disapprove, the men who disappear, the sisters who've got your back.

Rachel Baker, a theatre major at UCCS, recently appeared in Springs Ensemble Theatre's Lonesome Hollow, TheatreWorks' A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the FAC's production of 4000 Miles.

Amy Brooks most recently performed with Springs Ensemble Theatre, in The Goat, Or, Who Is Sylvia? and The Lion in Winter. FAC shows include In the Next Room, Or the Vibrator Play; Broadway Bound; Brighton Beach Memoirs; The Women; Crazy for You; Lend Me a Tenor; and several others. She has performed with Theatreworks (The Wild Duck, Loves Labors Lost, Merry Wives of Windsor, Romeo and Juliet, and King Lear); Star Bar (most recently, Othello); and the MAT. She has received, and been nominated for, numerous regional acting honors: Gazette, Pikes Peak Arts Council, and Broadway World.

Joye Cook-Levy most recently you may have seen Joye run around the stage with Birgitta in the FAC's production of Noises Off. She is tickled to have gotten to direct almost all her cohorts on stage in several FAC productions and also at the wonderful Millibo Art Theatre where she is a board member. Joye teaches in the Theater Dept at UCCS and is the Education & Outreach Coordinator for TheatreWorks. She will be directing Peter And The Starcatcher on the FAC mainstage in the Spring.

Birgitta De Pree is the Co-Artistic Director of the Millibo Art Theatre. She received her MFA from the National Theater Conservatory and has spent the last two decades working throughout Colorado as a performer, director and artist-in-residence. Birgitta was recently seen at the FAC as Dotty in Noises Off and Silda in Other Desert Cities. She performs regularly at the MAT! In 2014 she won "Best of the Springs".

Marisa Dannielle Hebert notable roles include Abuela Claudia (In The Heights), Beneatha (Raisin in the Sun), Elizabeth (In the Next Room) and Lady in Blue (for Colored girls...). As a playwright, her first play, Pieces of Him won the 2013 Rough Writers New Play festival, and is available at indietheaternow.com. Marisa is currently working on her second play At The End Of Me and heading up The High Yellow Project, a Multimedia Theatre Performance piece.

Eve Tilley (Director) has been doing theatre since age seven (starting here at the FAC!). She has a B.A. in English/theatre minor from Colorado College and taught English and drama at Widefield High School before starting a family. She presided over the Star Bar Players for seven years, has an MA with Theatre emphasis from Colorado College, and was privileged to work with Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage Rep. For 15 years she presided over the Pikes Peak Arts Council, which left little time for directing except for The Six Women Play Festival at The MAT.
