THE CIVIL WAR musical runs April 21 - 30 at the Schwartz Center in Dover!

Celebrate the City of Dover's 300th Anniversary with this outstanding lineup of Delaware actors and musicians, produced by Delaware's own Tommye Staley

A local production of the Broadway musical, THE CIVIL WAR will be presented during the weekends of April 21-23 and April 28-30, 2017. Friday and Saturday shows are 7 PM, and Sunday shows are at 2 PM at the historic Schwartz Center for the Arts, at 226 S State Street in downtown Dover, Delaware. Tickets are $20, or $17 for seniors, students, and military. Tickets are available online at www.schwartzcenter.com. Tickets are also available at the door.

Based on the Broadway musical by Frank Wildhorn and Gregory Boyd, with lyrics by Jack Murphy (Wildhorn also wrote JEKYLL & HYDE), THE CIVIL WAR uses letters, diaries, historical documents, and Walt Whitman's poetry to explore a defining time in American history. The musical centers on the Civil War and tells the story in song from the perspective of Union soldiers, Confederate soldiers, slaves and the wives back home left wondering whether their loved ones were safe.

The show is directed by Tommye Staley with musical direction by Tim Plimpton. The diverse cast of 27 people from all over Delaware includes Phil Staley of the Honeycombs Band who is also set designer, Pastor Ted Henderson as Frederick Douglass, and John Hulse and Bob Frazier, who have appeared in musicals in Georgetown, Dover, Milford and Middletown. Other cast members include Dr. Bill Kroen from Wesley College, Jamar Boyer from Dover, Jackie and Chrissy Ashford from Wilmington, John and Maureen Levine from Smyrna and Becki Polk, Lezlie Eustis and Adara Ryan from Milford.

This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.

THE CIVIL WAR is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI); 421 W 54th St, 2nd Fl; New York, NY 10019. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
