Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have Patrick Barlow's The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters played by a ridiculously talented cast (each donning multiple personas), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance! The plot: a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure.

Director Tommye Staley was drawn to the show with its combination of Hitchcock techniques and snappy dialogue. She hopes that when audiences come to sees the show "enjoy the show, laugh till they cry, and that they take away a realization and great appreciation of the incredible talent that this theater has to offer." She would like to thank everybody for supporting the arts in our town and that this is the perfect show to see if this is your first theatre experience.

Lezlie Eustis has the opportunity to play four different characters in the show, and sometimes all at the same time. She says that Second Street Players is like a home to her and everytime that she walks into the theatre she feels reenergized. She hopes "that for a couple of hours the audience will forget their worries, and allow us to transport them to 1940s on an amazing adventure with a story where things are not always as they seem."

Do not miss out on this fast paced, quick witted show, The 39 Steps. There are six opportunities so there is no reason to miss it. The shows are January 26th, 27th, 28th and February 2nd, 24d, and 4th. The crime needs to be solved and they need an audience. For more information visit secondstreetplayers.com
