Possum Point Players To Hold Auditions for New Christmas Show, 9/21-22

On Sunday, September 21st at 5 PM, and Monday, September 22nd at 7 PM, the Possum Point Players (PPP) and director Donna deKuyper will conduct audition for an original Christmas show "Hollywood Holiday." The show will be performed December 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14.

The large ensemble cast will include performers of all ages and races. There are a few non-singing roles. Those auditioning for singing roles should prepare a 1960's era song or standard holiday song of their choice. Auditioners may bring their own accompaniment but a piano accompanist will be available.

"Hollywood Holiday" is an original Possum production, conceived, written and directed by deKuyper, a popular local performer and former professional actress. It is a behind-the-scenes and on-stage look at Ed Sullivan's first (and fictitious) live 1960s TV Christmas Special on the west coast, co-hosted by Phyllis Diller, and featuring a whole stocking-full of celebrities from that era like, but not limited to, The Rat Pack, The Temptations, The Supremes, Elvis, Loretta Lynne, Sonny and Cher, Glenn Campbell, Minnie Pearl, Jack Benny, Goldie Hawn, and more!

DeKuyper does not expect spot-on imitations of the celebrities who will be portrayed in the show, but rather a suggestion of them through their music, body language and the magic of costumes and make up.

Anyone wishing to tryout who cannot make the auditions, or who would like to help out in an off-stage capacity is asked to contact Donna at donnadek@comcast.net or Facebook.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
