This month, The Human Race Theatre Company (HRTC) is getting into the real estate game with The House. Opening night is tonight, November 3, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

After 20 years in their dream house, Martyn and Shanny Redmond are downsizing and just sold their home directly to the perfect thirtysomething couple, Fischer and Lindsay Libett. Or so they thought. Sure that the Libetts will keep the place exactly as they're leaving it, the Redmonds invite them for drinks, casual conversation and to hand over the keys. But when Fischer and Lindsay reveal they are planning major renovations, Martyn and Shanny have second thoughts and a pleasant get together becomes an outrageously hilarious battle of wills with over-the-top results.

Margarett Perry (HRTC's Hail Mary!, One Slight Hitch, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, and many more), returns to The Race to direct The House. Perry previously directed the world premiere of The House of The Kitchen Theatre in Ithica, NY.

Brian Parks's (Playwright) plays have been produced in New York City as well as several cities across the U.S. The plays have also been staged internationally, in London, Edinburgh, Ireland, Adelaide, Heidelberg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, and Oberzeiring, Austria. His play Americana Absurdum helped launch the New York International Fringe Festival in 1997, where it also won the Best Writing Award.

The cast of four includes three Human Race veterans as well as a face new to local audiences.

Vince Gatton (Cock and Clean Alternatives at the Kitchen Theatre with director Margarett Perry; Leigh Fondakowski's SPILL at Ensemble Studio Theatre; Fully Committed at Barrrington Stage Company) is "Fischer Libett." This is Gatton's first production at HRTC. Alex Sunderhaus (Lewis Black's One Slight Hitch, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, August: Osage County.) plays his wife, "Lindsay Libett." Resident Artist Scott Stoney(Shenandoah, Copenhagen, Seussical, Angels in America.) is "Martyn Redmond." This is Stoney's 72nd Human Race production as an actor. Resident Artist Caitlin Larsen (Steel Magnolias, Fiddler on the Roof, Moonlight and Magnolias, Lend Me a Tenor; Broadway: Cabaret, 1987 Revival with Joel Grey) plays his wife, "Shanny Redmond."

Ray Zupp (scenic designer) returns to The Human Race Theatre having last designed Lewis Black's One Slight Hitch. In the last decade, he has worked as a scenic artist on numerous productions for The Human Race Theatre. Costume designer Janet G. Powellreturns for her fourth Human Race production with director Perry. Resident Artists John Rensel (lighting designer) and Jay Brunner (sound designer) round out the design team. Lexi Muller is the production stage manager.

All performances are at the Metropolitan Art Center's Loft Theatre, located at 126 North Main Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Tickets and performance information for The House are available at www.humanracetheatre.org or by calling Ticket Center Stage at (937) 228-3630, and at the Schuster Center box office.
