Dayton Playhouse Presents THE PRODUCERS, Opens 8/27

By:

Dayton Playhouse is delighted to present the first production of our 20010/2011 Mainstage Season, The Producers by Mel Brooks - opening August 27, 2010 and running through September 12.

What happens when a down-and-out producer and his mousy accountant realize that they can make more money on Broadway with a flop, than a hit? They option the rights to "a gay romp
with Adolf and Eva" in a guaranteed disaster of a show called "Springtime for Hitler!" But, what if that flop becomes a runaway hit? Find out with us as the Dayton Playhouse presents its season opening musical comedy The Producers. This hilarious, campy, exuberant musical won 12 Tony Awards when it debuted in 2001 including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Musical Score!

Our production of The Producers is directed by Chris Harmon with choreography by Annette Looper and musical direction from Ron Kindell. Further rounding out the crew are veterans Anita Bachman who is designing the lighting and Tony Fende who will be doing sound. The settings are by Chris Harmon as well. "The Producers is a blast from beginning to end. Great songs, hilarious story ... plus I'm thrilled with the cast that will bring it to the stage!" says Director Chris Harmon. "Saul Caplan and David Sherman as Max and Leo are in roles they were born to play... with great chemistry and spot-on comic timing... "
