About this studio
Western Arkansas Ballet is a nonprofit dance academy and regional ballet company at 4701 Grand Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas, operating as a recognized 501(c)(3) and a member of the Center for Nonprofits. Its stated mission is to create a community dedicated to the fine arts through quality dance education, training and performance. The academy teaches ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern and creative movement, and runs adult classes in ballet and tap. The season runs from September with academy registration and an open house held in August, and includes two full-length performances each season - recent seasons have featured The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland and a fall ballet program. Auditions are held for company productions, and scholarship funds are available to students. The organization is supported in part by the Arkansas Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
