Stadium of Dance LLC

Stadium of Dance (S.O.D.) was founded in 2009 by Kamari Schoolfield, who started the studio at age 18 in a daycare gym in Springfield, Massachusetts; it is now based at 520 Main Street in Indian Orchard. The studio's motto is 'where you are your only competition', and it says it caters both to dancers taking class as a hobby and to children considering a career in the performing arts. Classes are taught by experienced dance coaches and performers who track each child's physical progress alongside cognitive, emotional and social development, with stated goals of building confidence and self-esteem, lengthening attention span and developing self-discipline and persistence. Dancers showing strong potential or performance ability may be invited to join the S.O.D. Competition Team, which performs before live judges at competitions, and the studio holds its own awards ceremony. Founder and head coach Kamari Schoolfield specializes in hip hop, jazz funk and contemporary and works as a competition judge and choreographer. The studio also runs adult dance classes with a fitness and social focus, and has a separate waiting area for parents and siblings. Registration is through Dance Studio Pro.
