About this studio
Minnesota Dance Theatre and The Dance Institute is a Minneapolis dance organization established in 1962, with a school organized into divisions and a 62-year legacy associated with the Houlton family. Its school director is Lauren Post, who joined after a 17-year performing career with American Ballet Theatre and has stated an aim of providing world-class training while keeping access open to any child who wants to dance. Summer programming has included free classes for ages 4 to 7 at the Center for the Performing Arts, drop-in classes for ages 8 to 18 running twice weekly in July, a Ballet Bootcamp classical variations series for ages 13 to 18 led by Lauren Post and Joanna Mednick of San Francisco Ballet, and adult offerings including 18-plus classical repertoire workshops and a choreographic workshop and showcase with choreographer Gemma Bond.
