About this studio
Fox Hill Dance Academy provides ballet, tap and jazz training for children and adults in Indianapolis, describing itself as a multi-racial and multi-generational organization with certified teachers and small class sizes. The school has been in business more than 50 years, spending over a decade in Butler-Tarkington before moving in 2003 to the historic 1850 Oliver Johnson homestead at 2275 Fox Hill Drive, a property once linked to the Underground Railroad. Its ballet curriculum was developed over many years to combine elements of Russian Vaganova, Cecchetti and other techniques, with attention to avoiding forced turnout and the knee injuries it can cause. Former students have danced with companies including the Joffrey Ballet, Lexington Ballet, Ballet Met and Ballet Austin, and have won college dance scholarships. The academy runs fall and summer semesters and holds an open house for registration.
