About this studio
Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective (IMAC) is a non-profit movement arts organization based at 4011 N. Pennsylvania Street in the Basile Opera Center in Indianapolis. Its stated mission is to build community through shared movement experiences on the principle that every human can dance, and it aims to provide a safe, inviting space that encourages curiosity, exploration and play. IMAC runs weekly dance and movement classes for adult movers of all skill levels, with a schedule that includes belly dance, Bollywood, Contemp Hop, West African dance, pop-up tap, Zumba, barre and center, EmbodieDance, tai chi and mindfulness meditation. It also hosts workshops led by regional, national and international guest artists, and supports local artists through the Makers Lab and Open Stage programs plus an Embodied Research Lab. Class passes are sold online and a Movement Scholarship Fund subsidises access for those who need it.
