Barriskill Dance Theatre School (BDTS) is a dance and theatre school at 3642 Shannon Road in Durham, North Carolina. It offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary and musical theatre for toddlers, preschoolers, children, teenagers and adults, taking students from beginner level upwards, and also runs an Acting for the Camera class and an Adaptive Dance program for students with disabilities. Advanced students can audition for the Barriskill Studio Company. The school describes its approach as developmentally appropriate, child-centred dance education in a safe, nurturing environment, using the discipline of dance training to teach commitment, teamwork and perseverance whether or not students continue in dance. Summer programming is divided into separate conservatory, studio and preschool tracks, and tuition assistance is available.
