In a unique partnership with Dallas-based performance company Prism Movement Theater (PMT), Theatre Three will present the world premiere of Lear, a wordless adaptation of the classic William Shakespeare play King Lear. Adapted by PMT co-founder Katy Tye and starring Marianne Galloway as the gender-swapped titular character, Lear is a moving work of dance theatre that focuses on the relationship between Lear and her daughters.

When Lear is betrayed by her corrupted daughters Regan and Goneril, her sanity is sent into a tailspin, forcing her only faithful daughter Cordelia to take up the mantle and fight for her mother's dignity and the fate of the kingdom.

"Great ideas are a dime dozen, especially when it comes to artists. But what good is an idea if you don't act on it?" says Theatre Three Artistic Director Jeffrey Schmidt. "What Katy and Jeff are doing with PMT stands out, because they are actually following through with their ideas and executing them with true artistry. It's raw, different and genuinely exciting storytelling."

"We believe in storytelling through movement," says PMT co-founder and director Jeffrey Colangelo. "Whether that be through dance choreography, stage combat, mime, weight sharing, clowning or simple everyday actions, we believe each motion is a piece of text. With this philosophy, we believe we can reach even more beautiful heights of artistic expression and plunge even further into the complex depths of the human subconscious all without uttering a single word."

Jeffrey Colangelo and Katy Tye founded Prism Movement Theatre after collaborating on what would become the company's first forays into movement theater: Prism and Galatea. Colangelo, a fight choreographer and director, and Tye, an actress and dancer, found that their particular theatrical aesthetics could be combined to create entire narratives without using any words.

Lear is directed by Jeffrey Colangelo with Mitchell Stephens as Assistant Director/Choreographer. Katy Tye and Beth Lipton serve as Playwright/Choreographer and Assistant Choreographer, respectively. The cast includes Marianne Galloway (Lear), Kwame David Lilly (Fool), Constance Grace Dolph (Regan), Iv Amenti (Goneril) and Allison Morris (Cordelia). Original music for the production will be composed by Ivan Dillard and Jonah Gutierrez will serve as Lighting Designer.
