Brandon Potter Joins DTC's Resident Acting Company

Dallas Theater Center Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty has announced the new member of DTC's Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company - Brandon Potter.

"Brandon Potter will join DTC's Brierley Resident Acting Company for a two year appointment upon his graduation from SMU this spring," said Moriarty. "While a student at SMU, Brandon's work with DTC included roles in King Lear and this year's production of A Christmas Carol. In both cases, he won over his colleagues with his collaborative spirit, his strong technique, his wry sense of humor, his ability to play a wide variety of characters and his potential to continue to grow as an artist. Not only will he provide a new energy and fresh perspective to his peers in the company, his addition also continues DTC's relationship with Southern Methodist University's Meadows School of the Arts."

Potter, who grew up in Weatherford, Texas, will graduate from SMU with a Master's of Fine Arts in Theater on Saturday. He is the third SMU MFA grad to join the Resident Acting Company for a two-year appointment. Abbey Siegworth was the first to fill the position, followed by Tiffany Hobbs, who will depart the company after appearing in Stagger Lee in the 2014-15 season. Potter will appear in mainstage productions of The Book Club Play and Sense and Sensibility during the 2014-15 season, as well as a workshop production of a new play, Differed Action, which DTC is creating in conjunction with Cara Mia Theater Company.

"It's an honor to be welcomed into the fold of the Brierley Resident Acting Company," said Potter. "Since coming back to Dallas, I've looked forward to seeing company members on stage. I've had the chance to work with many of them and those projects are among the most creatively satisfying projects I've ever worked on. On a personal level I'm thrilled to get to stay in Dallas and do great theater. I'm also looking forward to participating in DTC's outreach and education programs, which are making a positive impact around the city."

Moriarty formed DTC's Brierley Resident Acting Company in 2009 to develop and nurture professional actors within the community, expand DTC's artistic profile, and create ongoing collaborative relationships with artists. Current company members are Kieran (Michael) Connolly, Daniel Duque-Estrada, Hassan El-Amin, Chamblee Ferguson, Liz Mikel, Sally Nystuen Vahle, Alex Organ, Brandon Potter, Christie Vela and Steven Michael Walters.

Locally he has worked with Trinity Shakespeare Festival (Julius Caesar, Taming of the Shrew), Undermain Theatre (a reading of Sacrifice at the DMA), the MAC (White Rabbit, Red Rabbit), and several readings at Noveau 47. Brandon's voice has been heard internationally in cartoons, video games, television and radio commercials, and numerous online outlets. In May 2014 Brandon received his MFA in Acting from Southern Methodist University.
