Amphibian Stage to Host 'Guilty Pleasures' Next Leap 2013 Fundraiser, Today

By:

Amphibian Stage Productions yesterday announced that its annual fundraiser, Next Leap 2013: Guilty Pleasures Bash, will take place on Friday, October 4, 2013. The event, a 60's-themed celebration benefitting the non-profit theatre company, will take place at Amphibian's home at 120 South Main Street in Fort Worth.

Touted as "The most fun you never said you had," Next Leap 2013: Guilty Pleasures Bash will include 1960's-themed food, drinks, live music, movies, and more that appeal to the indulgent side of guests. A VIP Sponsor Lounge for high-level sponsors will also be available, featuring a private bar and specialty cocktails.

The Next Leap 2013 Steering Committee, chaired by longtime Amphibian supporters Shelley Vaubois and Jeff Davis, has set a goal to raise $100,000 with this event in order to fund Amphibian's mission, "to produce innovative and engaging works of theatre that challenge the way we see the world around us," in the company's 2014 season. Amphibian Artistic Director, Kathleen Culebro, will announce the line-up for the company's 15th season at the event.

Event Chairs Shelley Vaubois and Jeff Davis expressed their support by saying, "Amphibian Stage Productions has been one of our favorite pleasures (not necessarily guilty) in Fort Worth for some time. We love that their plays and readings stay with us long after each show ends. We love that they conduct weekly stilt-walking workshops with children from the Presbyterian Night Shelter. And what we love most is that Amphibian has been a vital part of the revitalization of the South Main Corridor in the Near Southside. An investment in Amphibian is also an investment in an area of town that we believe is worth supporting."

In addition to Mrs. Vaubois and Mr. Davis, the Next Leap 2013 Steering Committee includes: JD Angle, Dan Barrett, Brad Blessing, Kay Bolz, Joel Burns, Vicki Cantwell, Paul Dennehy, Sandra Dennehy, David Denson, David Fielding, Beth Gideon, Randy Gideon, James Gorski, Tina Gorski, Gregory S. Ibañez, Peter Kowalski, Rebecca Low, Sean Lynch, Lizzie Maldonado, Dan McCarron, Taylor McCarty, Richard Michael, Jarrell Milburn, Melissa Mitchell, Therese Moncrief, Susan Motheral, Judy Norman, Vicki Owen, Scott Price, Joe Self, Tracy Self, Whit Smith, David Stovall, Kathy Spicer, Donald Terrell, Michael Toole, Holley Williams, John Williams, and Mike Williams.

Next Leap 2013: Guilty Pleasures Bash will take place on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Amphibian Stage Productions in Fort Worth. Single tickets are available at $125 each, as well as sponsorships starting at $500. For more information about sponsorship and to purchase tickets, call 817-923-3012, email boxoffice@amphibianproductions.org, or visit www.amphibianproductions.org. Amphibian Stage Productions is located at 120 S. Main Street, Fort Worth, TX 76104.

Amphibian Stage Productions is a non-profit theatre company founded in 2000 by three alumni of TCU's Department of Theatre who strive to produce innovative and engaging works of theatre that challenge the way we see the world around us. Now in its fourteenth season, Amphibian has produced numerous groundbreaking and challenging plays (some regional premieres, others US or world premieres) that foster a deeper understanding of ourselves as members of the global community. The company is widely recognized for its stylistically and thematically varied scripts.

Committed to nurturing young and diverse audiences, Amphibian has developed a strong internship program, a summer acting workshop for teens, and a dynamic outreach project, Tad-Poles, that is steadily increasing the company's visibility and following. The group travels to schools and community centers, performing and spreading a message of multicultural collaboration and tolerance.
