The OC's Maverick Theater presents THE PRODUCERS, 6/11-7/31

By: Jun. 02, 2010

PRESS RELEASE:

The Maverick Theater is squeezing one of Broadway's biggest musicals on to their 20' foot stage and letting all the comedy pour into the laps of the audience. Maverick founder and director, Brian Newell, is using the theater's top comic talent to deliver all the laughs from some of the funniest characters ever written for the stage. Newell has also teamed up with choreographer and costume designer, Curtis Jerome, (previous Maverick productions of RENT and REEFER MADNESS) to pull off those crazy dance numbers with the old ladies and their walkers and of course the tap dancing Nazis.

THE PRODUCERS follows the adventures of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, two theatrical producers with a scheme to get rich with a Broadway flop. Mel Brooks has truly created a musical comedy masterpiece and THE PRODUCERS is the best example of the current trend of movie-to-Broadway adaptations.  Ironically his script has gone from film, to Broadway, and back again. Along the way it has earned both Academy and Tony Awards.

Directed by Brian Newell, THE PRODUCERS opens June 11th and runs through July 31st with performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday matinees at 3:00 p.m. starting June 19th. Tickets for 8:00 p.m. shows are $25, Matinee $20. Students with a current ID are $15 for 8 p.m. shows and $10 for matinees. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.mavericktheater.com or by calling 714-526-7070.

The Maverick Theater is located at 110 E. Walnut, Fullerton, CA 92832, across from the Amtrak station in historic Downtown Fullerton.
