Special ticket offers will be available to local theater groups and educators for Westport Country Playhouse's "Room Service," a backstage comedy about the business of putting on a play, written by John Murray and Allen Boretz, and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director.

"We're happy to share this hilarious show about the behind-the-scenes antics of mounting a theatrical production with our local theater groups who will no doubt identify with the theme and the inside jokes," said Michael Ross, Playhouse managing director. "We also think our area educators will appreciate it from the perspective that 'all the world's a stage.'"

At "Celebrating Local Theater Night" on Friday, October 11, tickets for members of local theater companies will be $25 for the 8 p.m. performance. Promotional materials from participating theater companies will be displayed in The Playhouse lobby.

At "Educators' Night," on Thursday, October 17, a 50% discounted ticket will include a pre-show wine/cheese reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. performance. Educators and students are eligible for 50% discounts at all Playhouse performances, Tuesday at 8 p.m., Wednesday at 2 and 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Set in a second-rate Times Square hotel room, "Room Service" tells of Gordon Miller, who has finally discovered a formula for Broadway success: be bold, brash, and option a brilliant script by a promising young writer. What he hasn't discovered is a willing financial backer. As behind-the-scenes business of putting on a play becomes more frenetic, one wonders if the show will ever go on. The play was adapted into a 1938 movie with the Marx Brothers and Lucille Ball.

"Room Service" Production Sponsors are Barbara and John Samuelson. Corporate Production Partners are Cohen and Wolf; KPMG; and Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, The Bender Financial Group.
