University of Saint Joseph Presents FREEDOM: IN 3 ACTS Tonight

Have you seen Bated Breath's gripping, exploration of the struggle for civil rights through song? Fresh from their summer performance at The International Festival of Arts and Ideas, Bated Breath Theatre Company will perform Freedom: In 3 Acts at The University of Saint Joseph.
The performance tonight, November 6, 2014 at 7:30 will follow a 7:00 tour of The Amistad Center for Art & Culture's exhibit - I Write Your Name in the University's art gallery.Freedom: In 3 Acts is an original play developed by Bated Breath in collaboration with The Amistad Center for Art & Culture. Drawing inspiration from Emancipation!, an Amistad Center exhibit featuring artifacts and images from the time of the Emancipation Proclamation to the present, Freedom: In 3 Acts explores emancipation and the struggle for civil rights through song in three short, theatrical vignettes. Freedom: In 3 Acts features locally based and internationally renowned vocalist, Jolie Rocke Brown, in the role of Anderson.The Bruyette Anthenaem

The Amistad Center is not related to the many other organizations in Connecticut and across the country who share the name Amistad. Amistad is a popular choice as it remembers a significant event and calls to mind African American strength and history.
