This is a rare opportunity to enjoy an Alvin Ailey performance -- and to support a very worthy local cause, Bridgeport's Music and Arts Center for Humanity (MACH) - providing arts education to Fairfield County children at-risk and those with special needs for over 30 years. Ailey II, directed by Sylvia Waters, is one of world's most popular modern dance companies, and the New York Times calls its dancers "young, engaging and remarkably individual. " This performance is scheduled to include: The External Knot  and When Dawn Comes... Divining

Alvin Ailey and MACH have a longtime partnership, and among other MACH programs, this performance will support MACH's Ailey Camp -- a unique summer dance experience for local youth, regardless of ability to pay. 2010 marks the 11th anniversary of MACH's Ailey Camp. Since its inception, over 700 children have participated in Ailey Camp.

MACH programs fill a critical gap in its participants' educational and extra curricular opportunities. The results are impressive; MACH students achieve high school graduation rates of up to 90%, compared with Bridgeport's average of 63% and a statewide average of 79%.
