The MAC's Eastbound Theatre Explores & Presents A Story Of America's Shining Women
Eastbound Theatre, a division of Milford Arts Council (the MAC), the second show of its 25th season, the first fully-staged Connecticut production of the These Shining Lives, by Melanie Marnich, directed by Rich Mancini.
These Shining Lives is a powerful story of strength, determination, and spirit... a story of America's shining women! The play chronicles the strength and determination of four young who work for the Radium Dial Company outside Chicago during the 1920s and 30s. These women were considered expendable in their day, and their true story continues to resonate to this day. The fate of Catherine, Frances, Charlotte and Pearl is tragic; however, theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits - or endanger the lives of those who come after them.
MILFORD LIBRARY SPECIAL EVENT
Milford Arts Council and the Milford Public Library will join forces to invite the community to a special Milford Public Library Book Club meeting on January 8 at 7pm (Snow Date: Jan 10). The library will have copies of the book Radium Girls, which inspired the play, to borrow in advance. There will also be a live cast reading from These Shining Lives during the meeting, and attendees will receive a $5 discount to purchase a ticket for the live performance on opening weekend. All book club participants are invited to a "talk-back session" on Feb 1st and 3rd after the performance. Performances will be held Fridays through Sundays from February 1st through February 17th, 2019.
Friday and Saturday Performances are at 8 pm with cabaret seating and BYOEEE - Bring Your Own Everything Except the Entertainment. Concessions available in our Speakeasy Lounge as well.
Sunday performances are at 2pm with theater row seating. Concessions will be available.
