The Biava Quartet, one of today's most exciting American string quartets, will perform at Lincoln Theater, on the campus of the University of Hartford, on Wednesday, August 5, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors, students and Lets Go Arts members. The Lincoln Theater box office is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Winner of the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and top prizes at the Premio Borciani and London International Competitions, the Biava Quartet has established an enthusiastic following in the United States and abroad, impressing audiences with its sensitive artistry and communicative powers. The Quartet has recorded for the Naxos and Cedille labels and has been heard on London's BBC Radio 3 and NPR as well as in frequent national broadcasts. The Quartet has been featured in Strings and Strad magazines and is the subject of an upcoming PBS documentary film.

Repertoire performed at the Hartford concert will include the String Quartet in A Minor, Op. 13 by Felix Mendelssohn, the First Quartet, Op. 20 by Alberto Ginastera, and the beloved Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber.

The Biava Quartet is the professional ensemble-in-residence at the 2nd annual David Einfeldt Chamber Music Seminar hosted by the Hartt Community Division. The David Einfeldt Chamber Music Seminar is a special week of music-making and intense study for advanced string players and pianists ages 13 through 17.
