Photo Flash: Long Wharf Theatre Presents LIL'S 90TH

By:

Lillian Eldridge, the title character in Long Wharf Theatre's world premiere production of Darci Picoult's Lil's 90th, chooses to celebrate her birthday by living out a lifelong dream - performing on stage for her family and friends.

Inspired by Lil's pluck and last season's successful Elder Play Project, Long Wharf Theatre invites New Haven area residents 70 and older who are musicians, actors, singers, dancers, comedians (or have any other talent) to join in an "Early Bird Cabaret" on Sunday, January 17th from 1:00-3:00 pm on the Mainstage. Performers will have about three to five minutes on stage and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Slots are limited. Admission is free and open to the public. The event has been designed to compliment the world premiere of Lil's 90th through February 7th, 2010. Here is a link to more information about the show: http://www.longwharf.org/show_LIL.html

"This is a chance to celebrate the eternal artist in all of us. We never stop creating -- Long Wharf Theatre wants to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on those individuals in our community who've spent a lifetime creating, who continue to sing, dance, write, love, late into life. They're such an inspiration..." said Long Wharf Theatre Associate Artistic Director Eric Ting.

A host of community artists have already agreed to perform at the event. Tower One/Tower East will be the "house choir" for the show, which features poet Gayle Hall, the Twilight Tappers and the Blossom Tappers and performers from the Milford Senior Center and the Gables, among others. Local cable access host Sydney Evans will co-host the event alongside Ting.

For more information about the event or to sign up to perform, contact Group Sales Manager Leah Dudley 203-772-8242 or e-mail leah.dudley@longwharf.org. To buy tickets for Lil's 90th, starring Lois Smith and David Margulies, call 203-787-4282 or visit www.longwharf.org.
