Mickey Thomas And Starship Come to The Ridgefield Playhouse

Starship featuring Mickey Thomas ruled the '80s with their platinum-selling 1985 album Knee Deep in the Hoopla, a collection chock full of hits including "We Built This City on Rock and Roll," "Sara" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."

More than 30 years later, these songs endure, garnering regular radio airplay and earning fans in new generations via soundtracks for Rock of Ages, Guardians of the Galaxy, Skeleton Twins, and the popular TV series "Glee." Be there when Starship featuring Mickey Thomas touches down at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Thursday, March 15th at 8, part of Pepsi Rock Series Powered by Xfinity.

In 1979 Mickey Thomas joined Jefferson Starship. His voice had become legendary on the recording "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" with the Elvin Bishop Band. The Airplane was transforming into the Starship and in need of new blood. His first effort with Jefferson Starship ("Jane") was a massive hit that permeated the airwaves. In 1985, the Starship released the album that would come to define the 1980s, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, featuring two #1 hits - "We Built this City" and "Sara" - the album reached #7 on Billboard and went platinum.

Starship featuring Mickey Thomas is: Mickey Thomas and Stephanie Calvert, vocals; keyboardist Phil Bennett; drummer Darrell Verdusco; bassist Jeff Adams and guitarist, John Roth. For this tour the band will mine their deep back catalog - "We'll play songs from every record I had a hand in," says Thomas, promising early hits like "Find Your Way Back," as well as a medley of the group's earliest hits as Jefferson Airplane. And, of course, the new material.

For tickets ($67), call or visit the box office, 203-438-5795 or go online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a non-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
