Carbon Leaf with The Alternate Routes, Enter the Haggis and The Mighty Ploughboys will rock at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, July 13

It will be an Irish Rock Festival at The Ridgefield Playhouse as four acts, a beer tasting in the lobby and other festivities take place on Wednesday, July 13. It all starts in the lobby at 6:30 p.m. with a beer tasting and music by The Mighty Ploughboys (from Danbury, CT) followed by Enter the Haggis on stage at 7:30 as well as The Alternate Routes and Carbon Leaf! Known for their award-winning hits "The Boxer", "Life Less Ordinary" and "What About Everything". Rock-pop-folk band Carbon Leaf is the most recognized indie rock band of this generation. The Alternate Routes from Bridgeport, Connecticut has a brand new album, Lately. Special guest is Enter the Haggis, Toronto's Celtic rock band that has earned a position at the center of a grassroots success story winning over fans all over North America.

Hailing from Virginia, the fertile environs that brought us Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Hornsby and Jason Mraz, Carbon Leaf's sound is a blend of folk-rock, Americana, Celtic and bluegrass, rock and pop. Rainmaker Artists .com calls it "an aura of warmth, with music punctuated by diverse instruments including mandolin, upright bass, violin, B3, rhodes and banjo, as well as acoustic and electric guitars." Now in their 20th year, Carbon Leaf won the first-ever "American Music Awards Presents the Coca-Cola New Music Award" for their hit single "The Boxer". "Life Less Ordinary" peaked at #5 in the U.S. AAA category. Carbon Leaf won 1st place in the Rock Category at the International Songwriting Competition in 2002.

The Alternate Routes is rocking its way across America playing hundreds of shows including their hits "Time is a Runaway" and "The Future's Nothing New". They won an Independent Music Award for their hit "Ordinary" and are on tour supporting their lastest album Lately.

With seven albums including Gutter Anthems to their credit, Enter the Haggis has made waves in the Celtic-rock genre, landing high Billboard and iTunes World Music chart positions as well as major television appearances on shows like "Live With Regis And Kelly", "A&E Breakfast With the Arts" and PBS' popular program "Out of Ireland". With its multi-influence style of Celtic rock, theirs is the kind of overall sound that has created "Haggis Heads" who follow the band from gig to gig.

For tickets ($35), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
