The Hartt School presents the Lions Gate Trio on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 PM in Berkman RecitAl Hall on the University of Hartford's West Hartford campus. Violinist Katie Lansdale, pianist Florence Millet, and cellist Marcy Rosen will perform Ravel's Duo for Violin and Piano, Shostakovich's Trio No. 1, and Brahms' B Major Trio.

The Lions Gate Trio, an internationally-acclaimed ensemble in both the U.S. and Europe, enjoys a combination of performing, recording, and working with young musicians in educational settings. Originally founded with cellist Scott Kluksdahl, the Trio welcomed world-renowned chamber cellist Marcy Rosen as its new member in 2008, joining pianist Florence Millet and violinist Katie Lansdale. Winners of the Koussevitsky Award for recording and lauded by the press for their CDs, the Trio has recorded for the Triton and Centaur labels, featuring new American trios, duo and trio music of French composer Nicolas Bacri, and the complete trios of Robert Schumann. The Trio has performed in Germany, France, Belgium, Finland, and most of the eastern U.S., with appearances at the Palais de l'Europe (Paris), the Phillips Collection (Washington, DC), and the Florence Gould Hall (New York). They have presented live radio broadcasts on Norddeutscher Rundfunk in Hamburg, France Musique at Radio France in Paris, and participating National Public Radio stations in the United States. Their performance at the Organization of American States was televised in nine states and sixteen Latin American countries. Each member of the Lions Gate Trio is a respected teacher, and collectively they hold faculty positions in Cologne, New York, and Hartford. The Trio has served residencies at Tanglewood, Yale University, and the University of Pittsburgh, and currently is the trio in residence in Connecticut both at Hartt and at the Fairfield Library.
